SMED, Inc. was founded under the premise that with the right guidance, a child’s abilities are boundless. Students that reside in low-income communities and attending low-performing schools deserve the same opportunities for academic and life success as their middle-class peers zoned in high-achieving school districts.  Therefore, SMED was established to insert positive programming to empower at-risk youth in under-performing schools to envision and manifest the highest and best version of themselves, personally and academically, so that these students graduate – ready for college and/or their chosen vocation.
